Chung Soon-Dool

Lee Hyun-Hee
Abstract
The purposes of this study were (i) to compare the life satisfaction among baby-boomers (ii) to find the factors influencing life satisfaction, and (iii) to seek practical implications for baby-boomers. The data used for this study were from Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIP) in 1998 and 2008 by Korea Labor Institute. The data consisted of 2,796 people(age
35~43) in 1998 and 1,975 people(age 45~53) in 2008. Multiple regression analyses were performed for two groups, an employed group and an unemployed group. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the factors influencing life satisfaction for baby boomers were different in two groups: past and current generations. There are common factors influencing life satisfaction among two groups: leisure activities, housing environment, appraisal about family relationship, wage, and stability of employment. Although the variables such as gender, housing status, and spouse status appeared to explain life satisfaction significantly in 1998¡¯s group, spouse status was the only variable to predict life satisfaction in 2008¡¯s group. Based on these findings, the implications for social work intervention are discussed.
